Chairman Thompson Releases Statement on New DHS Administrative Actions to Improve Protections and Pay for the TSA Workforce

(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas issuing new administrative actions to improve conditions for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workforce:

“I commend the Biden Administration for taking decisive action to improve conditions for the TSA workforce. TSA frontline officers have been grossly underpaid and denied basic workplace rights for far too long. The actions Secretary Mayorkas announced today represent significant progress towards ensuring TSA officers’ pay, protections, and benefits reflect the importance of the work they do to protect the homeland. I look forward to the Administration’s continued engagement as the Committee on Homeland Security works to advance H.R. 903, the Rights for the TSA Workforce Act, which will codify improvements for the workforce to ensure their permanence.”
